The town of Panajachel is an excellent departure point to visit one the most impressive and beautiful lakes in the world, Lago Atitlan.
Set amongst mountains and volcanoes, Lago Atitlan is surrounded by many traditional Mayan villages and attracts visitors from all over the world. Chichicastenango is home to the largest and most colorful market in Guatemala (held every Thursday and Sunday).
DAY 1: We leave from Antigua at 8 a.m. Once in Panajachel, we enjoy a relaxing boat ride around the lake, and later visit the lovely traditional Mayan villages of Santiago and San Pedro. The rest of the afternoon is free to explore the surrounding areas.
DAY 2: We visit Chichicastenango and its famous market offering an impressive array of traditional Mayan products. Shop till you drop! We then return to Antigua where you can rest your feet.
Price: $125 per person, with a minimum of 5 people. The tour includes transportation, guide, hotel accommodation and a boat ride.
