Collège Ste-Anne

Did you know that...

La Unión receives each year a large number of groups that come to Guatemala to Study Spanish but also to help the communities doing Volunteer work. In collaboration with our Canadian partner Horizon Cosmopolite, on October 31st, we received Collège Ste-Anne, a secondary school from Montreal Canada.

We especially prepared a program for them, offering a balance of Spanish lessons, Volunteer work, Activities and Excursions.

Here is a short summary of their daily schedule.

October 31st:

Arrival at the airport
Meeting Guatemalan Families
Halloween Party

November 1st:

Orientation and recommendations from Juan Carlos (La Unión’s director)
Festival of Giant Kites in Sumpango.

November 2nd:

Day trip to Panajachel (Atitlán Lake)
The town of Panajachel is an excellent departure point to visit one the most impressive and beautiful lakes in the world, Lago Atitlan. Set amongst mountains and volcanoes, Lago Atitlan is surrounded by many traditional Mayan villages and attracts visitors from all over the world.

November 3rd:

Volunteer work in El Hato
With the help of many groups of volunteers, we are doing concrete and building a soccer field for the kids of an indigenous community, El Hato.  For many kids in Guatemala, soccer is a big motivation for attending school.  For this reason, we started this project.
