Did you know that... Just as La Unión takes pride in the quality of our Spanish language program for visitors to Antigua, we also strive to promote education for local Guatemalans. La Unión and the University of Dreams Foundation, with the help of private donors, sponsor ten students from the village of Vuelta Grande and twelve from the neighboring village of El Hato to attend secondary schools in Antigua. Due to the extreme poverty of these communities, students' education stops after sixth grade. The students from Vuelta Grande have full scholarships to cover four year's tuition, study materials, van transport between home and school and monetary assistance for their families. The students from El Hato, however, only have financial support to complete the current school year (through November 2010). La Unión is actively searching for ways to ensure that these boys and girls will also have the privilege of a complete high school education.
If you are interested in helping to sponsor these students, either while you are here with us at La Unión or once you have returned to your home abroad, please let us know, you can contact us at the following email address:

After months of bushwhacking, trailblazing, community organizing and cabin-building, The Real Guatemala Tour has finally come to fruition.
The Real Guatemala tour is a joint effort between the University of Dreams Foundation in the United States and the staff here at Centro Lingüistico La Unión.Together we have worked with the community of Vuelta Grande, a 100% indigenous mountain village, located 25 minutes outside of Antigua to create an eco-tour through the stunning mountain trails surrounding their homes.
This eco-tour consists of a moderate 90-minute hike with a local guide and a La Unión translator, a fresh lunch cooked on the mountaintop, and breathtaking views of Antigua and surrounding towns. Community members are involved all along the tour, as guides, cooks, and more, while La Unión helps out on the logistics end (tickets, drivers, etc.) Besides what
La Unión uses to pay for gasoline and professional drivers, all of the tour profits go to the families of Vuelta Grande. To find out more click here or please don’t hesitate to
