Reconstrucción de Caminos

This project is located in the small village of San Cristóbal el Bajo in the local government of Antigua, located 2 kilometers, 15 minutes by bus, from the town. The village has 1,065 inhabitants, of which 519 are men and 546 are women. The economy is mainly agricultural and produces mainly coffee, corn, beans, vegetables and fruit. The village also has tourist sites: the baroque-style Catholic Temple, which was reconstructed in 2004, and the Central Park.

Because the city of Antigua does not fund reconstruction and improvements of the roads in San Cristóbal el Bajo, the Mayor is looking for volunteers who can assist. As a volunteer, you can help to widen the roads (no experience necessary), make paths, work in the garden nursery, and work on technical issues (only professionals for these three kinds of work are needed). If you would like to work with this village and you have a not mentioned specialty, please ask us.

As a volunteer, you are welcome to begin work as soon as you arrive. Volunteers can work in two shifts: 7 or 8am-1pm, and from 2-5pm. If you would like to, it is possible to work only half days. To do volunteer work in this village, you need to have some working knowledge of Spanish.

As there are many impoverished in San Cristóbal el Bajo, donations are extremely welcome (clothes, food, etc.). The local government will be happy to distribute your help.
