The God’s Child Project was founded in 1991 by Patrick Atkinson Barth with very simple aims: to pull vulnerable kids out of the street, send them to school, help to recover their health, and give them their dreams and a positive attitude towards life (to survive).

The God’s Child Project is located in Antigua Guatemala, and is a development center which is highly valued by the community.

The association works with children and adults, all of whom are from very poor families. The majority of the children only have one parent, who works hard, and some of the children are parentless.

Different work areas include Social Work, Physical Plant, Sponsors, Education, Library, Accounting, Atkinson Family Clinic, Nutrition Center and Kitchen, Psychology Clinic, Dental Clinic, Multimedia, Translation, and the Kid’s Club.

As a volunteer, you can assist in the areas mentioned above; schedules depend on the type of work. The association asks for at least one week of volunteer work. In some areas, your Spanish level is not very important; however Spanish is necessary to work with clients in specific areas. Please contact us for more information.
